BREAKING. TopTV does its first electronic programme guide (EPG) upgrade; adds parental guidance indicators, episode synopsis info.

TopTV has done the first upgrade to its on-screen electronic programme guide (EPG), adding parental guidance indicators in white, as well as more comprehensive episode synopsis information in the channel listings.

TopTV's content department is in process of rolling out the EPG additions over all the TopTV channels and will soon have age restriction indicators for most of the channels' shows where its available. When the ''up'' and ''down'' arrows are pushed on the TopTV remote control once the ''i'' or ''GUIDE'' buttons are pushed, more comprehensive show and episode synopsis information are now available, often including the director's name of a movie as well as actors featuring in it. Subscribers will also be able to see a show's episode title where available. According to TopTV more information space is now available on the EPG and more show episode information will be added as the EPG is improved.

''It's a work in progress,'' says Melinda Connor, TopTV spokesperson, of the technical new EPG improvements made possible through software upgrades. ''We started with parental advisory indicators since subscribers wanted that the most. On some channels we're not yet able to supply it since we don't have all the relevant information but we'll get there and we're continuing to work on further improvements.''
