I can exclusively break the news that American Idol is coming to SABC2 and that the broadcaster has acquired the rights to the hit reality show and will start with the 9th season from Thursday, 14 April at 19:30.
SABC2 is looking to trounce M-Net who will be busy with its next local and 7th season of Idols as well as broadcasting the 10th season of American Idol that's started in America. I just got off the phone with insider sources who confirm exclusively to me - and with a smile in the voice - that SABC2 did indeed get American Idol and will roll it out with two episodes per week once the eliminations start - the main performance episodes on Thursdays and the elimination episodes on Saturdays at 20:00.
