BREAKING. Bewildered SABC workers reeling about broadcaster's Turnaround Strategy Roll-out 'Road Show no-one were asked about.
You're reading it here first.
Bewildered SABC workers are wondering what's going on while the SABC is embarking on an internal ''road show'' to tout the beleaguered public broadcaster's turnaround strategy - a strategy the SABC's labour unions haven't been consulted on but is now being ''rolled out''.
''People are reeling,'' says an SABC inside source after workers were informed of road shows where ''the roll-out of the turnaround strategy'' gets explained. ''Stunned. Stunned,'' says another source, who is shocked that the SABC is ready to implement drastic turnaround strategy decisions and tell SABC workers about it without the broadcaster's 3 labour unions who were never consulted when the initial turnaround strategy documents were drawn up and presented to parliament by the SABC board at the end of last year. I'm told that SABC staff in Durban were told yesterday about how the turnaround strategy will work, with more planned over the course of the month.
''It defies belief,'' says another SABC staff member. ''There's no consultation happening. Just this big master plan from above last year and now they're going around telling everyone how the SABC will change. It's very jarring and unsettling.''
I have asked and I'm awaiting a response from the SABC.
