ESPN acquires rights to show National Hockey League (NHL) games in South Africa.

ESPN (DStv 230) has acquired the rights to air the American National Hockey League (NHL) games in South Africa and most of the rest of sub-Saharan Africa.

ESPN is broadcasting one NHL game per week. According to ESPN, due to some facilities constraints, the games will be broadcast on short-turnaround for the first few weeks but will thereafter be broadcast live late South African time (primetime in America) with South African ''viewer-friendly'' repeats the following day.
