Felleng Sekha as the third SABC board resignation: ''She's just done. She's had enough.''

Has she or hasn't she? Speculation is rife whether the pedantic SABC board member and deputy chairperson Felleng Sekha has resigned or not.

If Felleng Sekha did resign last Monday during a special meeting between the SABC board with the minister of communications Siphiwe Nyanda, that would make her the third SABC board member to quit since the new board took over at the beginning of the year.

I can tell you that Felleng Sekha has definitely resigned and by letter and by saying it verbally to Siphiwe Nyanda, although the department of communications has still not responded to any of my enquiries. Felleng Sekha follows SABC board members Barbara Masekela who quit mid August and Magatho Mello who resigned as well.

''She's done with the tediousness, the back biting and the endless acrimony that exists between parts of the SABC board and the SABC board and the SABC chairperson dr Ben Ngubane,'' a source close to Felleng Sekha told me. ''Initially she was on dr Ben Ngubane's side. Then she was placed under immense pressure side with the rest of the board against dr Ben Ngubane. As the deputy chairperson of the SABC the[her] position placed her under a lot of strain. She had to be diplomatic but couldn't really be,'' another well-placed insider tells me. ''She's just done. She's had enough. It's more [the mess at the SABC] than what's it worth,'' a third high-level source inside the SABC told me.

The SABC board is set to appear before the parliamentary portfolio committee for communications on Tuesday, October 19.
