After the hostage drama that took place at the American headquarters of Discovery Channel in Washington yesterday - which Discovery calls ''a very difficult day'' - the international factual and entertainment broadcaster says its ''extremely relieved'' that everyone in the building is unharmed.
''First and foremost, Discovery Communications wants to express how relieved and grateful we are that all employees and the children from the Discovery Kids Place daycare center are safe,'' says David Leavy, the executive vice president for global communications and corporate affairs at Discovery Communications in the official press statement.
''Employees in Silver Spring demonstrated courage, compassion and cooperation throughout the situation, which aided law enforcement efforts — for which we are thankful and proud. The events . . . showed the strong heart of the Discovery family.''
