I've just been told that TV with Thinus has been voted one of the top ten TV bloggers in South Africa in the 2010 South African Blog Awards. I feel incredibly honoured and strengthened as a journalist in my resolve to continue to bring you the scoops, exclusives and honest truth about the news, the moves (and the news on the movers and the shakers) from the South Africa television world to teeveetee.blogspot.com. It's not about me at all. Honestly. All I'm trying to do is to cover television and the TV industry in South Africa in its myriad of forms honestly, justly, fairly, accurately, swiftly and above all with credibility as a TV writer and a journalist. Something that's almost non-existent and sorely lacking in South Africa. The TV writer fraternity has a short supply of independent journalists and voices covering television who don't pander, suck up to or go to things because of the promise of goodie bags whilst having no clue what things are even about, or willing to ask the hard questions and provide relevant and incisive coverage. I do it because i truly love television. I endeavour to bring the real news from the world of television, hopefully more often before anyone else, hopefully news that is relevant, interesting, fair, and hopefully as accurate as possible.
I'm now a finalist in the 2010 South African Blog Awards. Unlike when we had just the SABC, or when Robert Mugabe is having an election, I realize you do have a choice. I would love it if you would perhaps take a moment to vote for me - something you can do once every 24 hours.
