BREAKING. eNuus ready for its first debut bulletin broadcast on kykNET this Sunday at 19:00.
You're reading it here first.
eNuus, the brand new Afrikaans news bulletin produced by e.tv's eNews division for kykNET (DStv 111) will have its first broadcast this Sunday night, 19 July 2010 at 19:00 ringing in a sea change for Afrikaans television news in South Africa.
kykNET and eNews has kept a possible launch date of the news bulletin fronted by Freek Robinson tightly under wraps. Both e.tv, eNews and especially kykNET tried to manage expectations by only saying that eNuus will go live when the new production crew, editorial staff and on-air talent have trained and familiarized themselves with the new system and feel that they can adequately produce and broadcast an Afrikaans bulletin with substance. Now kykNET, not making any announcement about it, is quietly saying on the Afrikaans satellite channel's website that eNuus will have its first broadcast this Sunday evening at 19:00. eNuus will be going out daily in this timeslot for seven days a week from this Sunday as a half hour bulletin, competing directly in this timeslot with SABC2's Nuus om 7 on weekdays.
eNuus will be the only other primetime Afrikaans TV news bulletin in South Africa, with the bulletin being supported and backed up in terms of video footage and electronic news gathering by the well established apparatus of the eNews Channel (DStv 403) that runs 24 hours a day and is now by far the most popular of the available news channels on the DStv bouquet. kykNET has now back changed and also adjusted their already issued July schedule to reflect the new addition of eNuus on the daily schedule from this Sunday.
