BREAKING. The SABC gloats about its viewership record for FIFA World Cup opening match on SABC1.
You're reading it here first.
The SABC is gloating about its record-setting 2010 FIFA World Cup opening match between South Africa and Mexico which I told you about RIGHT HERE and that was watched by 11 million people in South Africa, or about one in every five people in the country.
Now the SABC is being a bitch about it all and gloating that its scored a higher TV viewership audience percentage that SuperSport - as if its competing! The SABC says - in a badly written press release riddled with spelling mistakes - that the South African broadcaster has surpassed ''its own 76,1% share of TV viewers for this past Friday's FIFA World Cup opening match.'' Then the SABC continues by saying ''the pay channel [SuperSport] only managed to grasp 11% viewership marketshare'' and that this milestone was achieved even after the SABC decided to sell the rights to broadcast the World Cup matches ''to MultiChoice's SUperSport and also in an increased competitor environment with the launch of a new pay channel option [TopTV].''
''This has been a historic moment for the SABC. No TV channel in this country has ever reached such performances for any event, including the first democratic elections. This is a clear testimony that the people of South Africa still strongly choose the SABC as their broadcaster of choice,'' says the SABC.
