SABC will not get a bailout again says South African government.

After the R1 billion bailout it received last year in the form of a loan guarantee, the SABC will not get a bailout again.

The new director-general of the National Assembly's communications committee, Mamodupi Mohlala said that the state's loan guarantee that was created for the SABC was ''a difficult and painful process'' and that it will not be repeated in future.

She said that the government has no intention to come to the rescue of ''problematic'' state-owned entities like the public broadcaster again, which includes parastatal entities like the signal distributor, Sentech.

She said that the Communications minister Siphiwe Nyanda has set up a task team to look into the funding models of these entities to look at what operational and structural changes are necessary.
