SABC ready for live 2010 Soccer World Cup coverage in June.

The SABC says that the South African public broadcaster is ready to ensure that South Africans will be able to see or hear live broadcasts of all 64 matches played in South Africa from June in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

SABC 2010 project general manager Peter Kwele says the corporation will be drawing on the experience the SABC gained broadcasting the Confederations Cup earlier this year.

''What we have done, we've already signed off on our schedule, putting 56 games on SABC1 and the other games will be on SABC2. We're looking at more than 300 people who'll be deployed to bring this spectacular event to many households around the country during the World Cup,'' he says.

Solly Mokoetle, the group CEO of the SABC says there's ''no doubt'' that the SABC is ready. ''We are the official broadcaster so there's no doubt we're ready to broadcast all the games on all SABC platforms. If you watch all of the SABC channels you will get front row enjoyment throughout this period".
