BREAKING. Discovery Channel unwraps King Tut in TV doccie special.

The Discovery Channel (DStv 121 from 1 March) just announced that it will show the 2 night world premiere special TV event, King Tut Unwrapped in May in South Africa on the channel.

The Discovery channel tells me that the world-renowned Egyptologist dr. Zahi Hawass - in the specially filmed process which is now the to-be televised doccie - lead an unprecedented forensic investigation into the life and times of Egypt's enigmatic ruler, King Tut.

In King Tut Unwrapped viewers will get to see, for the first time, the identity of Tut’s parents and grandparents and. . . the cause of his death. We're also promised new details of his reign.

Research published today in The Journal of the American Medical Association tells of the  archeological research done by the team of international field experts. Part one of the doccie will focus on the first- ever DNA extraction from Tut’s mummy. In part two viewers will get to see how the researchers determined the cause of death.

''We're really excited to be working with dr. Zahi Hawass and his team again and to be exclusively following this important work in King Tut Unwrapped on Discovery Channel,'' says Caleb Weinstein, senior vice president and general manager for Discovery's emerging markets region.
