BBC Worldwide has also created 3 new heads of scheduling roles in the EMEA region, nobody has been appointed yet, but these positions will be filled in the coming months.
In his new role John will have complete editorial control over the all the BBC branded channels in the EMEA region. BBC Worldwide is responsible for the BBC channels such as BBC Knowledge (DStv 251), BBC Lifestyle (DStv 180), BBC Entertainment (DStv 120) and CBeebies (DStv 306) that's broadcast in South Africa.
According to AGB Nielsen Media Research the BBC Lifestyle channel has consistently been the number one lifestyle channel on DStv under viewers older than 16 between September 2008 and November 2009.
