M-Net (DStv 101) is following up two seasons of The Bachelor South Africa with a first season of The Bachelorette South Africa and is already in pre-production of the local spin-off that will be broadcast in 2021 for DStv subscribers.

M-Net will reveal the bachelorette who will headline The Bachelorette SA during the upcoming week.

The Bachelorette SA is being produced by Rapid Blue, also responsible for The Bachelor SA, according to the show format of Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP).

"Choosing our first bachelorette was a daunting task," says  Lani Lombard, M-Net's head of publicity, in a statement on Sunday evening.

"Even though it’s not a hard-and-fast rule, it is customary for the spin-off programme to pick a lady from previous Bachelor seasons."

"In this regard, we're spoilt for choice. Both seasons featured many stunning ladies who could easily step into this coveted role and we know how fans fervently rooted for their favourites on social media."

"Behind the scenes, we were also contacted by other potential bachelorettes with strong credentials, but who did not appear on the show."

M-Net says that single guys who want to, can enter to be a part of The Bachelorette SA. Entries will open for the show immediately after her name is revealed later this week.

M-Net says Rapid Blue will start filming The Bachelorette SA as soon as possible in 2020, and plans to have it on the broadcast schedule early in 2021.
