MultiChoice updates and releases a new, smaller version of its DStv WiFi Connector for DStv Explora decoders.

MultiChoice has updated and is rolling out a new version of its DStv WiFi Connector that links its DStv Explora decoder to the internet.

Moving from the small black box, the new WiFi Connector version that is smaller, with a paddle shape, still plugs in at the back of the DStv Explora and comes with a USB docking station.

Sold separately, the DStv WiFi Connector is available from any DStv service centres or DStv agencies and retail stores for R199.

Through it the DStv Explora is able to connect to the internet making additional content downloads available like 1 000 films in the DStv Catch Up Plus M-Net Movies collection.

For an additional fee of R69 DStv Premium subscribers can also access Naspers' subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service, Showmax, and subscribers can also set recordings remotely through the internet when they're away from their decoders.

MultiChoice says the new DStv WiFi Connector makes it easier to connect to a router in a home, even if it is in another room and that there's no need to run a cable from a router to a DStv Explora.

"When we first launched the DStv Explora in August 2013, we promised our customers that we will keep on enhancing the experience on this flagship platform. An easy-to-use, DStv WiFi Connector helps us to deliver on that promise," says Gerdus van Eeden, MultiChoice's chief technology officer.
