SuperSport dramatically expands its coverage of electronic gaming in a broadcast and streaming deal with Ginx eSports TV.

In a new deal SuperSport today started streaming the eSports channel Ginx on DStv Now with some content from the gaming network that will also be broadcast on SuperSport channels on MultiChoice's DStv satelite pay-TV platform.

SuperSport previously covered electronic sports (electronic gaming) but not on a big scale.

Aware of the exponential global growth in eSport - both in terms of competing events, arena spectators staring at big screens, but also the sheer number of viewers watching on television - SuperSport is dramatically upping its coverage.

"The deal with Ginx is a massive leap forward and signals our intention to embrace the newest sport out there. There is a real buzz around eSports and we want to be part of that," says Gideon Khobane, SuperSport CEO.

Live programming blocks of Ginx will be broadcast on SuperSport channels during the week and the Ginx produced magazine show The Bridge will be broadcast on Thursdays at 22:00.

Michiel Bakker, Ginx eSports TV CEO says "it's an exciting time to be launching in a country with such a rapidly growing eSport scene. Ginx eSports TV will provide South African fans with the biggest and best events from around the globe".
