Mzansi Magic adds new cooking show, Something's Cooking, from 22 October from MiCasa's J'Something frontman, Joao da Fonseca.

Mzansi Magic (DStv 161) is adding the new local cooking show Something's Cooking from with musician Joao da Fonseca, better known as J'Something from the music group MiCasa from Wednesday 22 October at 19:00.

Something's Cooking is produced for Mzansi Magic by Da Fonseca's own production company, J'Something Music the channel tells me.

The first season of Something's Cooking will have 13 episodes, in which the artist will take viewers on a culinary journey through his Portuguese and African roots, sharing his passion for food and his family background in the restaurant world.

Joao da Fonseca will introduce viewers to new ingredients and cooking styles and share some of his personal life away from the stage.

"There has been a massive explosion in foodie culture and cooking shows all over the world. Chefs and wanna-be chefs have become household names and there are plenty of shows that offer amateur cooks the chance to be in the spotlight," says Nkateko Mabaso, M-Net's director for local interest channels.

"Something’s Cooking turns that on its head, with a household name launching his own cooking show."

"When I don't sing I cook," says J'Something in a statement. "Life is a classic recipe of hard work, good friends and a perfect grilled sarmie. Something's Cooking is who I am, not perfect but passionate."
