BusinessDay TV on DStv switches to the widescreen, 19:6 format; CNBC Africa the last remaining boxed-in 4:3 local TV news channel.

BusinessDay TV (DStv 412) from BDFM Publishers has now switched to the widescreen, 16:9 format on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform.

The local business news TV channel made no announcement about the switch and its on-screen adjustment.

The aspect ratio change means that late-comer CNBC Africa (DStv 410) is now the sole, "old" local TV news channel in South Africa still broadcasting in the boxed-in 4:3 aspect ratio.

eNCA (DStv 403), SABC News (DStv 404) and ANN7 (DStv 405) all went 16:9 during the past year and since launch, with several other general entertainment TV channels and international TV news channels on DStv, StarSat and OpenView HD one by one having made the transition already.
