BREAKING. Pawn Stars South Africa coming to History channel on DStv from 14 October, local season produced by Rapid Blue.

The reality show Pawn Stars on History (DStv 186) is getting a local South African spin-off, Pawn Stars South Africa which will start on History on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform on 14 October.

TV with Thinus can confirmed that Pawn Stars SA is in the works and will debut in three months' time on the DStv channel run by A+E Networks UK.

Pawn Stars South Africa is being produced by the South African production company Rapid Blue.

It's not yet clear who the South African versions in Pawn Stars SA will be.

The original American Pawn Stars series follows the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas since 2009, revolving around the people who collect and buy and sell antiques and a wide array of weird, wonderful and unusual items.

Pawn Stars UK, a British version, started last year based on the same History channel format and follows Simon Penworth and Mark Manning from Regal Pawn.

Both Simon Penworth and Mark Manning attended MultiChoice's MultiChoice Content Showcase as part of A+E Networks UK's History presentation to journalists.

MultiChoice flew African artists, journalists, international content distributor executives and on-air talent, as well as guests to the Trou Aux Biches Resort & Spa where the Pawn Stars SA news was revealed to the press.
