The channel logos of an additional large number of TV channels seen within South African have turned to black (or black-and-white) after the death of Nelson Mandela.
The Universal Channel, Telemundo, Studio Universal, The Home Channel, e.tv, Discovery Channel, Sony Entertainment Channel, Sony MAX, Crime & Investigation, TLC Entertainment, Style, Food Network, Travel Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery World, CNBC Africa, Disney Channel, Disney XD, KidsCo, Trace Sport Stars, Trace Urban, ONE Gospel, Dumisa, SowetoTV, BayTV, 1KZN, Nickelodeon and Mindset Learn now all have black channel logos in the corner of their respective TV channels.
(Cartoon Network, E!, and VH1 Classic channel idents have always been black and white).
The MTV and MTV Base channels have also added a "RIP MADIBA" in the top right hand corner of the channels as well.
The M-Net logo, as well as all the M-Net Series channel logos, the M-Net Movies channel logos, Vuzu, kykNET, Channel O, all the Mzansi Magic channels, all the SuperSport channels and all the AfricaMagic channels were first to change to special black channel idents on DStv.
Some channel logos such as the AfricaMagic channels are even sporting new special, stylised changes since Friday, such as an image of Nelson Mandela worked into the actual black channel logo.
Channel logos on DStv which remain in colour include MGM, Disney Junior, Jim Jam, Discovery HD Showcase, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo WILD, TshwaneTV and Cape Town TV (CTV).
The SABC is also keeping its SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3 channel logos in colour.
