All of M-Net's TV channels on MultiChoice's DStv platform lost their connection and went dark earlier this hour due to a power failure at M-Net's Randburg headquarters, causing a break in the connection and signals for 15 minutes before the power and the channels were restored.
Technicians immediately jumped to try and restore the power and all the channels - which affected the pay-TV broadcaster's premium M-Net channel, the set of M-Net Series channels as well as the M-Net Movie channels.
It's not yet clear why the power failure occured and it is current under urgent investigation; sources tell TV with Thinus the sudden power failure affected sections of M-Net's Randburg complex from just after 10:00 on Wednesday morning.
According to insiders the M-Net channel (DStv 101) was first to be back on air after 6 minutes. The M-Net Series channels such as M-Net Series Showcase, M-Net Series Reality and M-Net Series Zone were restored next after about 15 minutes of darkness, and then the M-Net Movies subset of channels followed.
"Everything is restored. All the channels are back on the air," an M-Net spokesperson tells me.
"Technicians immediately worked on restoring the magic. The M-Net channels apologise for any inconvenience caused."
