e.tv planning eKasi+, eToonz+, eMovies+ and eAfrica+ as the first of its set of new digital TV channel collection available on OpenView HD.
e.tv is set to expand its current TV channel collection consisting of e.tv and eNCA (DStv 403) to four additional TV channels consisting out of eKasi+ as a new local content TV channel, as well as eMovies+ as a movies channel, eAfrica+ as a Pan-African content TV channel, and eToonz+ as a kids channel.
eKasi+, eAfrica+, eToonz+ and eMovies+ will become available as additional e.tv channels on Platco Digital's new satellite TV offering, OpenViewHD when that product launches as the first of e.tv's planned set of free-to-air TV channels for digital terrestrial television (DTT) in South Africa.
TopTV management and e.tv have had discussions about adding the new e.tv channels to TopTV's satellite pay-TV platform besides being available on the planned OpenView HD.
MultiChoice has so far not responded to an enquiry as to whether some or all of the channels might be added to DStv.
In the same way in which M-Net has branded and now aligned its self-compiled and packaged movie and series channels under the "M" brand for instance M-Net Movies Showcase and M-Net Series Reality and On Digital Media uses "Top" for its own self-compiled channels, e.tv has opted for the stylistic "plus" sign at the end of the small "e" moniker to indicate a "more content" offering.
e.tv will officially launch eToonz+, eKasi+, eMovies+ and eAfrica+ which will be available on OpenViewHD next Thursday in Johannesburg.
