BREAKING. Stacey Holland resigns; leaving e.tv's morning breakfast show Sunrise as the production scrambles to find a new co-anchor replacement.

You're reading it here first.

I can reveal that Stacey Holland is leaving her perch as the co-anchor of e.tv's weekday morning breakfast show Sunrise after a year and a half.

Stacey Holland jettisoning the morning show marks the second high profile departure from a live South African morning show after Liezel van der Westhuizen's sudden departure from SABC3's live weekday morning show Expresso just a month ago.

Stacey Holland who joined e.tv in 2009, took on co-hosting duties on Sunrise in July 2011 alongside Sindy Mabe after she had been working at the broadcaster mostly covering sport.

I'm told that Stacey Holland's last day appearing on-air for Sunrise will be this Friday, 14 December and that she handed in her resignation on 3 December.

The e.tv production is now urgently looking for a new replacement Sunrise co-anchor and someone who has at least three years broadcasting experience, with applications closing on Friday.

"We can confirm that Stacey Holland has resigned from her position as Sunrise anchor," Monde Twala, e.tv's channel head tells me. "Stacey has worked for Sunrise for the past four years. We wish her well in all her future endeavours."
