Noluthando Gosa set to become a SABC board member for a second time at the struggling public broadcaster after she resigned in December 2005.

The new SABC board member joining the current "seriously degenerated and dysfunctional" SABC board will be the National Planning Commissioner and the former SABC board member Noluthando Primrose Gosa.

Noluthando Gosa will in all likelihood replace Clifford Motsepe who resigned in April as a SABC board member.

Noluthando Gosa was an SABC board member before - but she resigned in December 2005 amid allegations of corruption and alleged involvement in the banning of showing footage of the former deputy president Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka getting booed at a rally.

Like the current SABC board member Cawe Mahlati, Noluthando Gosa accused her then fellow SABC board members of tolerating corruption within the SABC. Noluthando Gosa was herself under investigation at the time.

The name of Noluthando Gosa was the only name which was put forward out of the 39 shortlisted candidates by the portfolio committee on communications in parliament today.

How SABC board appointments work are that names are put forward by the portfolio committee, and are always basically rubberstamped by the president, in this case Jacob Zuma, which means Noluthando Gosa - as the only name put forward for the only current vacant position - will get the position soon.
