The eNews Channel on DStv changes to eNCA as it expands to Sky's pay-TV service in Britain tomorrow.

The eNews Channel (DStv 403) on MultiChoice's DStv platform and South Africa's only independent 24 hour news TV channel has officially changed its name into simply eNCA (pronounced E.N.C.A.) with a new logo - a mosaic of blue and red triangles depicting the African continent.

TV with Thinus was first to report the coming change back in June. The name and logo change is to make the brand better suited for international expansion, with the eNCA starting to broadcast from tomorrow on Sky's pay-TV platform in the United Kingdom.

"The two red triangles symbolise our South African roots," says Patrick Conroy, the group head of news at eNCA.

"The launch of the eNCA in the United Kingdom is a historic achievement," says e.tv CEO Marcel Golding in a press statement. "This marks a real breakthrough for news broadcasters in Africa. It is the first time a home-grown service has been able to provide news and current affairs to audiences beyond the continent."

"The eNews Channel Africa (eNCA) will be available in many more territories in future. This is just the beginning of our efforts to expand beyond and across Africa. We are an authentic and genuine voice for the people who live here," says Marcel Golding.

Also to launch fully by the end of the year is the eNCA website at www.enca.com to expand into a full online news service. TV with Thinus broke that news first in July last year.
