BREAKING. e.tv ready to start the pioneering work of creating an online news division, expanding its eNews brand into cyberspace.
With the eNews Channel (DStv 403) that just turned three years old, e.tv is ready to start the pioneering work of taking its news division - eNews and the eNews Channel - into the digital and online era by creating and establishing a commercial internet presence for the broadcaster's news content.
e.tv is now looking for a general manager for the free-to-air broadcaster's new online news division in the newsroom in Hyde Park in Johannesburg which means that the eNews Channel website that's simply been redirecting to the e.tv website could be turned into a real online news and breaking news destination within months. The online presence will be closely tied to the television news division - eNews - of the company. e.tv says it wants someone who understands media revenue streams and online advertising.
The search for a general manager means that the eNews Channel and the broadcaster's eNews brand will most likely branch out and expand with an online presence, similar to SABC News' http://www.sabcnews.co.za/ and the websites of other countries' 24 hour news networks like Sky News, Al Jazeera, France 24 and Russia Today (RT).
e.tv is now looking for ''a senior figure in the digital landscape to help pioneer eNews' new online strategy'' says the broadcaster and somebody who's ''entrepreneurial'' and would be able to ''establish, and then manage, a new online department for the broader company.'' The general manager for eNews' new online division will be reporting directly to e.tv's group head of news and will be part of e.tv's senior management team.
