Programming note: A 3 part special series, The 9/11 Decade, coming to Al Jazeera to mark a decade since the attack of 11 September 2001.


Al Jazeera (TopTV 401 / DStv 406) will have a 3 part special series The 9/11 Decade starting at the end of August, examining the impact of 11 September 2011 on world history a decade after that terrible day in New York.

The 3 part The 9/11 Decade will kick off with the first episode on Tuesday 30 August at 21:00 (South African time) with ''The Intelligence War'', followed a week later on Tuesday 6 September at 21:00 with episode 2, ''The Media War'', and episode 3 on 13 September at 21:00, ''The Clash of Civilizations''. (Multiple repeats of all 3 episodes are scheduled during the week after each episode's premiere.)

''The Intelligence War'' will look at how the CIA fought Al Qaeda in the shadows, focusing on the monitoring of communications and the highs and lows of the intelligence war. ''The Media War'' in the second episode will examine a decade of propaganda from various geopolitical powers. The final episode ''The Clash of Civilizations'' looks beyond the headlines to the war for hearts and minds between Al Qaeda and the West.
