The Monitoring Task Team (MTT) report on the SABC clearly shows and indicates the SABC's funding request from government for R6,9 billion.
You're seeing it here first.
On Tuesday the National Treasury revealed in parliament that the SABC asked for R6,9 billion over 3 years. The SABC then hastily convened a press conference on Friday, with Justice Ndaba, the SABC's head of strategy, saying that it's not true.
Yet, right here, in the document from the monitoring task team (MTT), entitled ''SABC progress report on compliance with the government guarantee'' it clearly shows that the SABC is requesting MTEF funding to the tune of further billions from the government.
Click on the summary that the MTT report labels ''SABC's MTEF request'' and it will open bigger for your perusal. Look at the line with the green arrow.
In this MTT report presented to parliament on Tuesday before the portfolio committee on communications, it very clearly shows the SABC's MTEF request to the tune of R6,9 billion: R384 million in 2011/2012, R2,026 billion in 2012/2013 and R4,52 billion in 2013/2014.
The MTT report submitted to parliament on Tuesday goes on to state:
''The SABC has submitted an application for funding to the department of communication (DOC). The application needs to be considered by the DOC and where supported, the DOC will submit a request for consideration during the Budget process. Meanwhile, the request has also been shared with the National Treasury.''
