The brand-new 7th season of Idols that kicked off this past Sunday at 17:30 is an immediate viewership success with ratings that will give M-Net executives lots to smile about.

The debut episode of the show on Sunday evening with a duration of an hour and a half delivered incredibly impressive ratings for the pay broadcaster - viewership that's set to climb as the Idols season progress and viewers' interest and their investment in contestants grow.

The first episode of Idols produced by Nevermachine immediately clocked in as M-Net 4th most popular show overall with 252 000 viewers (TAMS: all adults). On the M-Net weekly top ten list that places it just behind the perennial viewership stalwart Carte Blanche, the Robin Hood movie and Grey's Anatomy - all shows broadcast later in primetime when a bigger potential audience is available.
