The SABC's new 24 news channel will cost the public broadcaster R80 million per year to operate.

The SABC's new 24 hour channel that the public broadcaster's top brass seems adamant to push into reality (and was supposed to start in April on MultiChoice's DStv) will cost the SABC R80 million per year to operate.

The SABC board has told parliament that key to the broadcaster's prioritisation of programming is the new 24 hour news channel tht will replace the canned SABC News International channel.
