BREAKING. SABC1 to unveil a brand-new on-air look on Monday night incorporating 3D images; new promo templates.

This coming Monday - and I can be first to tell you it will happen at the start of primetime Monday night - SABC1 will change the broadcaster's on-air look, promising a refreshed look that will include 3D imaging, crisper sound, new promo templates and new depth.

SABC1 will have ''a new exciting face,'' says Simone Berger, SABC1 on-air manager, although I've confirmed with other sources that the basic template of the SABC1 logo will remain the same. ''We're still Mzansi Fo Sho but with a different, refreshed and reloaded look,'' says Simone Berger. The current template for the SABC1 on-air look was introduced three years ago and the channel decided that a refreshing of its on-air imaging was necessary again.

I tried to get some of the new imagery, but SABC1 wants to keep it for Monday night when it will be unveiled during primetime and used from then onwards. According to SABC1 the new on-air look ''is complete with crisp 3D images''. The broadcaster says ''the clarity of sound is amazing. The colours are more pronounced and the viewing experience so much more enhanced. The look and feel has been boosted with more depth and new life infused into the individual images.''

SABC1's new look and feel will cover all the on-air elements including self-promotion templates, line-up and menu boards, link boards and straps. ''The current on-air treatment has been there for over three years,'' says Vukile Madlala, SABC1 publicity manager. ''The new SABC1 look aims to infuse more currency, attitude, boldness and a greater sense of energy. We are very excited at SABC1 and looking forward to the implementation of the new on-air look and feel. We're confident that our viewers will find it very appealing and their general viewing experience enhanced as a result.''
