More than a week after TopTV did a double debit order run on subscribers' bank accounts people are still waiting for their money.

You're reading it here first.

More than a week after TopTV did a double debit order run on subscribers' bank accounts that affected 1 500 subscribers, several of them have still not received their money back.

TopTV promised that affected current and former subscribers will get their money back immediately if they're banking with Standard Bank and ''within 24 to 48 hours'' if it's other banks. That timeframe has come and gone and now more than a week later several angry, upset and concerned TopTV subscribers are battling with TopTV and its call centre just to get their money back.

TopTV is not responding to specific questions as to what exactly the problem is and isn't willing to say how many subscribers are still affected by the double debit order blunder. ''All of these will be resolved by the end of day tomorrow [Wednesday],'' says TopTV.

''To date I've not been reimbursed the R498 that they've deducted from my account via debit order,'' an exasperated Rebecca Malambo emails who've been struggling for more than a week now to get her money that TopTV took out of her bank account. ''I've been phoning them. This is very frustrating and I have already canceled my subscription with them, phoned them numerous times and have to check every morning that my money is paid into my account. I have been phoning them every day since the incident, sent emails and all they promise is that in the next 24 hours it will happen, then nothing happens. They gather huge interest on people's money since this incident and just lies to us as to what is going on. I don't know what to do,'' she says.
