CONFIRMED. SABC board wants to oust SABC group CEO Solly Mokoetle; the tension ''is now at an absolute breaking point''.

I can now  confirm this rumour I heard yesterday and told you about HERE as fact: that the SABC board will be asking the public broadcaster's group CEO Solly Mokoetle to explain why he shouldn't be suspended.

The SABC board wants to institute disciplinary action Solly Mokoetle - with the aim of getting rid of him - and be able to say that when the SABC board appears before parliament's portfolio committee for communications next week on Tuesday. Solly Mokoetle is aware that the SABC board wants him out. Tension between the SABC board on the one side and SABC chairperson dr Ben Ngubane and Solly Mokoetle ''is now at an absolute breaking point'' a source closely connected to the upper SABC echelons tells me.

From what sources tell me, the news spread like wildfire through the SABC yesterday, although Solly Mokoetle has not yet received his letter telling him to appear before the SABC board to explain why he shouldn't be suspended.
