SABC3 waiting on Tyra's tapes for the 10th cycle of America's Next Top Model; reality show couldn't start Saturday due to no episodes delivered.

The 10^th season of America’s Next Top Model which was supposed to start on SABC3 this past Saturday didn't – again the tapes didn't arrive in time.

Viewers tuning in to SABC3 at 15:00 on Saturday for the 10^th season waited in vain for the Tyra Banks created, and executive produced competition reality show, which SABC3 decided to return to the channel.

Since 2010, SABC3's schedule has been impacted several times the past five years with shows which ran out of available tapes and episodes.

Several times, new seasons of existing shows as well as new shows haven't started as scheduled because of payment issues between the SABC and international distributors, and problems with tape delivery.

The 10^th "cycle" of America’s Next Top Model is the latest show being impacted by non-delivery of cassettes in time to the Auckland Park headquarters of the SABC – the same issue which previously impacted and delayed episodes of Survivor: Gabon, Expedition: Impossible which jumped to M-Net, Days of Our Lives, The Cape and even The Oprah Winfrey Show on SABC3.

The public broadcaster now hopes that tapes of America’s Next Top Model will arrive at the SABC's programme acceptance department this week in time for the 10th cycle to start this Saturday at 15:00.

It's not clear whether SABC3 is bringing the show back for just one season after SABC3 lost the show to M-Net's Vuzu (DStv 116) a few years ago.

For the 10^th season America’s Next Top Model, which was shown in America in 2008, moves back to New York from Los Angeles.

Model Tyra Banks is returning to talk television in 2015 and will be trying for a second time to host a television talk show after her first try with The Tyra Banks Show was cancelled after five years.

The Tyra Banks Show was broadcast in South Africa on SABC3 and now the model will try to return to the format. She continues to be the host and a judge on the reality show America's Next Top Model which has completed "21 cycles".

Where the first Tyra Banks Show was done from New York, Tyra Banks' new show will be done and produced from Los Angeles. Where the first show focused heavily on young women's issues, the new show will see Tyra Banks lead a panel of "lifestyle experts".

The as yet untitled new talk show will now tackle topics from beauty to fashion, home and entertaining, to female empowerment and will be done by Disney and produced by Summerdale Productions with Tyra Banks as executive producer. The first talk show was from Telepictures.

"Tyra is an enormous and vibrant talent with widespread appeal and we're eager to introduce her new lifestyle show that will incorporate her personal message of self-confidence," says Disney in a statement announcing Tyra Banks' new talk show.

"Tyra is truly unique in that she is both aspirational and extremely relatable to women of all ages," saying that Tyra is "more relevant than ever".

"The fire to inspire women and help them to blaze new paths fiercely burns inside of me," says Tyra Banks in the statement. "I'm excited to ... usher in a new era of lifestyle, beauty and entertainment that will inspire women to be the CEO of their lives via honesty, humor and the newest tips and tricks without being intimidating or precious".

"I can't wait to shake up daytime TV together. I have a lot of information to give and still lots to learn. Let's do it!"

SABC1 dumps America's Next Top Model from the schedule 3 days before it is supposed to start; new 'cycle' soon on Vuzu.

SABC1 has removed, without giving a reason, America's Next Top Model from its schedule; the model based American reality show from Tyra Banks was set to start in 3 days' time on SABC1 on 1 February at 16:30.

The reality show has been yanked from the SABC1 schedule only three days before it was supposed to start.

SABC1 didn't announce what is replacing the hour long show on its schedule. SABC1 didn't provide a reason as to why America's Next Top Model is suddenly being pulled.

The likelihood is high that the SABC didn't secure the broadcasting rights in time, necessitating the last minute pull and schedule disruption.

Meanwhile the 18th season of America's Next Top Model is set to start on Vuzu (DStv 116) on Wednesday 13 February at 20:30.

The Hollywood Reporter just broke the news a few minutes ago that Tyra Banks will be ending her talk show.

I was FIRST with the news HERE on 8 December that SABC3 will show the brand new 4th season in South Africa from Monday, 11 January at 11:25.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Tyra Banks will end The Tyra Banks Show at the end of the 2010 season. She wants to start her own movie studio, Bankable Studios to produce films.

UPDATE (Monday 28 Dec, 20:06) - On her website Tyra Banks writes: ''This will be the last season of The Tyra Show. I've been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past five years . . . [Your] love and support is always felt by me and it's given me the courage to take more exciting steps in my life. So I thank you for that.''

There's 170 brand-new episodes in this season that will go out from Mondays to Fridays. Tyra Banks has won a Daytime Emmy award last year as well as this year for outstanding talk show.

Jot down the dates for these SUPER HOT shows that SABC3 is making space for on the channel's line-up. From the look of it, SABC3 seems eager to fight back and reclaim the space of it's former slogan ''quality shows''. I'm glad.

NOT ON: The new season of The Tyra Banks Show was supposed to start in September, but because of delayed repeat episodes of The View that the channel must broadcast (don't blame SABC3), the start of Miss Tyra has been pushed out.

JUST WAIT FOR IT: The new season of The Oprah Show should start somewhere in December, just two months after the new season that will start on 24 October in America.
