SHOCKING DEATH. The Bold and the Beautiful's Stephanie Forrester will die on-screen from lung cancer as Susan Flannery is written out.

The Bold and the Beautiful (SABC1, 18:00) will have Forrester matriarch Stephanie Forrester die tragically from lung cancer TV Guide reports.

In August Susan Flannery who've played the character of Stephanie Forrester decided to dump the BBL soap after 25 years and she will be written out with a lung cancer death.

She agreed to a very short term contract extension for head writer Bradley Bell to write the character out instead of Stephanie disappeearing abruptly.

Viewers in America will see Stephanie Forrester die from lung cancer in December after a goodbye party she organizes for everyone which is shown in November.

In the place of a sudden departure, viewers are going to see Stephanie Forrester die from cancer when she is told that her lung cancer, which she thought was in remission, is back and beyond treatment. According to an interview with TV Guide, once Stephanie Forrester learns of her terminal diagnosis, she decides to organise a spectacular party as a last goodbye to everyone.

In episodes starting 18 October in America Stephanie will start to say goodbye as she delivers party invitations. The Bold and the Beautiful will pack episodes with Stephanie Forrester flashbacks over the years and her relationships with various characters.

Stephanie will even "visit" her old friend Sally Spectra [the actress Darlene Conley who died in 2007] in one of the episodes.

Susan Flannery is dumping the soap just a week after the sudden and shocking departure of Ronn Moss who've played Ridge Forrester and who left the soap over reportedly salary issues.

CBS Soaps in Depth broke the shocking news that Susan Flannery - who is one of the last remaining original cast members - will remain long enough for the writers and producers to create a storyline for her character to exit the show.

Someone who has issued a statement is Katherine Kelly Lang, the remaining original cast member playing Brooke saying in a statement that she is staying with The Bold and the Beautiful. "I'm very happy to tell you that I have resigned my contract with The Bold and the Beautiful for two more years. Brad has come up with an exciting new storyline for Brooke that I think the fans are going to love."
