After 14 years Ryan Seacrest exits as E!’s red carpet host, says he's decided to move on 'to new adventures'.

The American presenter and talk show host Ryan Seacrest has announced that he is done doing red carpet awards show duty for E! Entertainment (DStv 124) after 14 years and is exiting to "new adventures".

Ryan Seacrest who is now co-hosting the American weekday TV talk show Live with Kelly & Ryan, started co-hosting E!'s Live from the Red Carpet coverage together with Giuliana Rancic in 2006 and became a red carpet mainstay for all of the big American awards shows.

Announcing his exit from E!'s Live from the Red Carpet coverage on social media, Ryan Seacrest wrote on his Instagram that "After 14 years of hosting E!’s Live from the Red Carpet I’ve decided to move on to new adventures".

"I’ll miss the whole crew that works so hard behind the scenes and of course my amazing partner Giuliana. Thanks to everyone for watching all these years."

E! didn't issue a press statement but said on its website that "E! has long enjoyed our relationship with Ryan over the years especially as co-host of E!'s signature red carpet series".

"He has been instrumental in giving viewers a front row seat to some of Hollywood's biggest nights. We are extremely appreciative of his many contributions and he will always be part of the E! family."

M-Net adds Oscars 2020 red carpet special with Anele Mdoda for 92nd Academy Awards + full broadcast coverage list for the red carpet and 'cyclone stage' ceremony.

M-Net (DStv 101) has added a half hour Oscars 2020 red carpet special for its prime time schedule on Monday night to intro the 92 Academy Awards with Anele Mdoda who will interview some stars as they make their way into the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

It's the second time that Anele Mdoda will do the Anele at the Oscars special that she presented last year for the first time. It's the third time in history that a South African TV reporter is doing red carpet duty at the Oscars, and the third time that South Africa will have its own red carpet Oscars TV special.

Anele at the Oscars as a recorded show will be broadcast at 21:00 on Monday night, 10 February 2020, on M-Net (DStv 101), followed by the prime time showing of the 92nd Academy Awards at 21:30.

M-Net will also broadcast the awards ceremony as a live simulcast on Monday morning at 03:00 on M-Net Movies (DStv 104). This year the Oscars will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide with MultiChoice and M-Net that have the rights for sub-Saharan Africa.

This year's Oscars stage with be a glittering "cyclone" - a Swarovski-covered stage created by Jason Sherwood.

Important to note is that NBCUniversal's E! (DStv 124) for the 5th year in a row will again not have any actual red carpet coverage during the last hour of red carpet arrivals since those rights belong to the ABC network in America that gets exclusive live red carpet access.

While E! will carry the beginning of the red carpet arrivals live, viewers will have to switch to M-Net Movies to watch the red carpet arrivals live from 23:30, as well as for the official red carpet show starting at 01:30 on Monday morning. M-Net acquired these official red carpet pre-shows as part of the Oscars broadcast package.

This is happening because Ryan Seacrest is the host of American Idol, showing in the United States on the ABC network, the same channel carrying the Oscars. 

ABC asked Ryan Seacrest to present and can choose who it wants to, and in this case, wants to use Ryan Seacrest since he's a talent on ABC and it will help to create buzz for the upcoming next season of American Idol.

Also note that E!, besides not having Ryan Seacrest for the last half hour, will also again not have live coverage from the red carpet for the last hour from 02:00 since ABC holds the rights as the official broadcast partner. This show will remain live from the red carpet until it switches to the awards show.

M-Net wants the latest season of the revived American Idol to end in South Africa at the same time as in the United States and is putting the drama series Nashville and Riverdale on a few weeks' hold in order to catch up with the reality show so that the American Idol finale can be shown live in South Africa at the same time as in America.

The 16th season of American Idol that started on the ABC network in America a few weeks ago, will start on Friday 13 April on M-Net (DStv 101) at 19:00 until 21:00.

Episodes of the 16th season of American Idol will be broadcast on Fridays and Saturdays.

Due to this, the 5th season of Nashville and the second season of Riverdale are taking scheduling breaks on M-Net, so that the channel can catch up with the already aired episodes of American Idol of the past few weeks so that South African viewers can eventually watch the American Idol finale live without the fear of a winner spoiler.

New episodes of Nashville will return on 4 May at 21:00 and Riverdale's second season will resume on Saturday 28 April at 20:00.

Ryan Seacrest, facing swirling accusations of sexual harassment and assault with a charge that has now been laid with the police, is back as the presenter of American Idol. The judges for this revived season are singer Katy Perry, the country music star Luke Bryan and the music icon Lionel Ritchie.

The 14th season of Idols will start on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161) on Sunday 8 July at 17:30 and ends on Sunday 18 November with the dedicated Idols channel, Idols Extra, that will again run on MultiChoice's channel 199 on DStv showing auditions and additional footage.

Viewers need to note that for a 3rd year in a row E! isn't actually showing any live or otherwise red carpet coverage during this last hour before the Oscars and neither are any other broadcasters. For that you need to switch to M-Net Movies Premiere.

Broadcasters are allowed to record for later, but the live broadcasting rights for the last and most important red carpet arrival time has been given to the official broadcaster, in this case ABC. Viewers can switch over to M-Net Movies Premiere that has this live red carpet coverage programme from 01:30.

The accountants were fired but Warren and Faye aren't the only ones who'll be back. The show producers Jennifer Todd and Michael De Luca are back as well, as is Jimmy Kimmel as the host.

Tuesday's edition of E! News with Jason Kennedy will as usual be a special comprehensive Oscars look-back episode with the notable news, interviews and fashions from this year's awards show.

E! Entertainment's awkward, tone-deaf 75th Golden Globe Awards red carpet coverage, asking only women about sexual harassment and the #MeToo cause - but not men.

E! Entertainment's (DStv 124) pre-show red carpet coverage of the 75th Golden Globe awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles was unbalanced (meaning unequal - not crazy), awkward, cringe-worthy and coming across as out of touch and tone-deaf - raising questions about the extent to which E! and the NBCUniversal people running E! News are really still in touch with how Hollywood has changed and is changing.

The coverage of the 75th Golden Globes on E! late on Sunday night and in the early hours of Monday morning - South African and African time - was quite insightful for the way in which E! showed on E! how distant and somehow detached the NBCUniversal pay-TV channel that covers the world of entertainment, has seemingly become.

For a channel that for years has made as if it has the "inside track" on Hollywood's entertainment biz, E!'s Sunday night Golden Globe coverage showed E! to not just be somehow "out of the loop", but even worse: part of the problem.

Whose to blame for this? Ryan Seacrest Productions? Co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Ryan Seacrest who haven't been a day-to-day part of E! and E! News for years but who now only parachute in for red carpet coverage?

Or the litany of unqualified "showbizzy" quacks E! lets loose to screech and squeal for 4 hours without substance?

NBCUniversal and E!'s Golden Globes red carpet coverage team for its Countdown to the Red Carpet: The 2018 Golden Globe Awards seemed wholly - wholly - unprepared, unqualified and lazy for this year's awards ceremony, unable to substantively cover it in a new way, given how the atmosphere and themes in Hollywood - and impacting on the Golden Globes - had changed.

As women (and men) wore black as part of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements and campaigns, E! didn't seem to have any real interest, or any real plan on covering it comprehensively or properly - as if E! executives have put zero thought into it. It showed.

E!'s Giuliana Rancic said E! would ask this year "why you wearing black tonight? instead of "who you wearing" - odd, because it's not supposed to be a binary issue.

E! should be able to ask lots of different questions of Hollywood celebrities. It's not necessary for anything to be either a "just this" or a "just that" case.

If anything, E! should simply (have been) able to broaden its own scope by including an exploration of the issue of sexual harassment in Hollywood for a deeper perspective, instead of going for an overly-fixated focus on one issue (which it didn't even do), and discarding another.

E! should be able to - and can - ask people about their clothes and their causes.

Even with that said, E!'s Live From the Red Carpet: 2018 Golden Globes came across as reluctant to even really explore and ask celebrities about #MeToo and #TimesUp and was very one dimensional in its approach.

While Giuliana Rancic - very robot-like as if it's the one default, go-to question she remembers - asked some women, Ryan Seacrest couldn't even be bothered to try and ask any men.

E! peppered actress after actress with questions about workplace discrimination, sexual misconduct and gender disparity - but with a kind of heavy-handed approach, lacking any organic subtlety.

Yet E! and especially Ryan Seacrest - himself accused of misconduct and under investigation - couldn't get himself to ask a single man questions around the same topics.

E! seemed weirdly lost on Sunday night, or at the very least "behind" the times.

Then of course there were Debra Messing, Eva Longoria, Laura Dern, Sarah Jessica Parker and others also took to E! to slam E! during its live coverage, about its refusal to pay women as much as men for doing the same job and over how badly E! treated Catt Sadler who decided to quit because of NBCUniversal's gender pay gap at E!.

Interestingly celebrities spoke more on E! about the pay disparity between men and women - an issue where E! is part of the problem - than what E! has been willing to talk about since December 2017.

Some unknown person named Justin Sylvester was one of the B-grade presenters roped in by E! to do its backdoor coverage. Of course if you hire amateur, you get amateur, and the B-graders didn't disappoint, making E!'s Golden Globe red carpet coverage look oddly off-kilter.

E!'s Kristin Dos Santos who was also in the "skybox" again this year remains imminently qualified, knowledgeable and experienced to do red carpet coverage at a TV and film awards ceremony.

The problem is the other who-are-they's that E! has fanning out for red carpet titbits and who are neither skilled, not informed.

"Our coverage is woke!" exclaimed the one called Justin Sylvester, clueless about the irony of just how out-of-touch he made E! look as the gaggle of up-and-comers huddled at the drop-off area where the stars' limousines stop before they start their red carpet walk.

Will NBCUniversal and E! executives, as well as E! News staffers go and sit and do a post mortem to try and improve and better align future red carpet coverage with how the showbiz world as an industry but also the world at large is and has been changing? They really should.

E! seems to wants to do red carpet coverage like how Joan Rivers did it in her heydays. There's nothing per se wrong with that, but E! either missed the memo or refuses to read like Donald Trump, while the world has changed.

Should NBCUniversal and E! look at upskilling and possibly trying to find better people with the right knowledge and tact to do better red carpet coverage at awards shows where presenters have to know enough, and know what to do, as well as be able to tread water waiting for celebrities to arrive?

Definitely, if it wants to remain relevant.

E!'s robocall-like, one dimensional Golden Globe coverage was phlegmy and its lack of questions about #MeToo to men, very self-evident of how ingrained its own gender disparity issues actually are at E!.

The world has changed and it's time for E! to wake up and to adapt; to change and organically broaden its red carpet coverage.

E! seems yet to realise that its award show coverage will become irrelevant if it continues to hark on with the same-old, same-old, instead of purposefully strategising on how to realign itself with how the red carpet - and those who walk on it - has evolved.

E! can - and must - look at itself, and evolve to do better.

E! Entertainment investigating Ryan Seacrest misconduct claim of behaving 'inappropriately' with an E! News stylist.

E! Entertainment (DStv 124) is investigating a misconduct claim against Ryan Seacrest from a stylist who used to work on E! News with Ryan Seacrest, claiming he behaved "inappropriately".

According to a stylist who worked at E! News a decade ago while Ryan Seacrest was an anchor on the show, he behaved inappropriately, although the details of what allegedly happened is not yet known.

"Recently, someone that worked as a wardrobe stylist for me nearly a decade ago at E! News, came forward with a complaint suggesting I behaved inappropriately toward her," says Ryan Seacrest in a statement.

He was the co-anchor of E! News on E! Entertainment from 2006 until 2012.

"If I made her feel anything but respected, I am truly sorry. I dispute these reckless allegations and I plan to cooperate with any corporate inquiries that may result."

"I treat all my colleagues with kindness, dignity, and understanding, as this is a principle that's core to who I am."

E! Entertainment (DStv 124) has ordered and filmed a special Keeping Up with the Kardashians 10-year anniversary special to reflect on the American reality family's decade on television.

A broadcasting date for the 90-minute TV special in South Africa and Africa on E! on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform isn't known yet, but in America it will be shown on E! on 24 September just before the start of the reality show's 14th season on 1 October.

The Kardashians 10-Year Anniversary Special has Ryan Seacrest as the presenter whose Ryan Seacrest Productions has also been producing the reality show together with Bunim/Murray Productions over the past decade.

In the talk show type special filmed before alive studio audience, Ryan Seacrest sits down with Kris, Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall, Kylie and Scott Disick to reflect on the past decade and delve into what it's been like for the family to live all their triumphs and hardships in front of the camera.

"Since the show's inception 10 years ago, viewers have watched the family evolve, grow and become a huge part of today's pop culture zeitgeist," says Jeff Olde, E!'s executive vice president for programming and development in a statement.

"In celebrating the family's decade on the air, we are extremely grateful for the fans all over the world who have 'kept up' since the beginning."

NBCUniversal Networks International continues with the crazy and irrational censorship of E! Entertainment (DStv 124) on MultiChoice's DStv - this time suddenly censoring Jimmy Kimmel saying the word "masturbating" to Ryan Seacrest on the Emmy Red Carpet - after first showing it uncensored and then inexplicably deciding to mute out the word in Jimmy Kimmel's joke.

E! Entertainment remains an utter frustration and irony to watch while NBCUniversal Networks International keeps botching the channel that has Botched with bad censorship that makes no sense.

Shows like E! News are constantly blurred and bleeped to irritating effect, while reality trash like Keeping Up with the Kardashians are "allowed" to say words like "sh*t" and "f-" uncensored.

Initially, viewers on E! Entertainment heard Jimmy Kimmel's joke uncensored on Sunday. He took over the mic on the E! dais in a joke with Ryan Seacrest and asked him what he's wearing. Ryan Seacrest of course now wears his own Ryan Seacrest Collection.

Jimmy Kimmel told Ryan Seacrest "Oh you're wearing yourself? That's like masturbating" in one of the red carpet night's funniest impromptu jokes, after which Ryan Seacrest grabbed the mic back.

In the initial live broadcast and the rebroadcast of the E! Live on the Red Carpet the joke remained uncensored - until E! Entertainment suddenly had the word censored and muted out on DStv in later broadcasts.

Strangely, and bizarrely, on Wednesday night in Fashion Police on E! in its post Emmy special, the exact same clip was used - and this time Jimmy Kimmel's "masturbating" was heard - meaning that the E! Entertainment and NBCUniversal Networks International censorship is not even done consistently.

It's apparently okay to see massive bare breasts on Botched on E! Entertainment and other private parts of the human anatomy and other distateful scenes and words on shows like The Soup but you can't hear the word "masturbating" on E! Entertainment more than twice.

The constant, irritating and inappropriate E! Entertainment censorship and deplorable infringement on freedom of speech (on NBCUniversal Networks International's own channel!) makes E! extremely hard to watch with the incessant and ongoing interruptions.

E! on DStv makes you feel as if you've suddenly forgotten to put on your glasses when things inexplicably go blurry while watching a supposed news show like E! News, or as if you need to change your hearing aid batteries because of intermittent sound problems.

Meanwhile there's nothing wrong with your eyesight or hearing - it's NBCUniversal Networks International botching their own channel for the people who the channel is supposedly for: viewers.

If the content E! Entertainment shows on MultiChoice's platform isn't appropriate for E! and E! doesn't want viewers to see or hear a word like "masturbating", why is NBCUniversal Networks International then carrying the channel on DStv in the first place?

Ryan Seacrest is reportedly done with E! Entertainment (DStv 124) and anchoring red carpet coverage for Hollywood award shows, in the same way be checked out as co-anchor of the channel's flagship daily news show, E! News, two years ago.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Ryan Seacrest is on the verge of parting ways with E! Entertainment where he did red carpet coverage, in order to do other things. He will continue to be the host of American Idol.

With his contract with NBCUniversal which expired at the end of March he made it clear to E! Entertainment that he no longer wants to do red carpet coverage.

The 2 hour block of E! Live from the Red Carpet will restart with a rebroadcast on Monday from 02:00 to 04:00, 04:00 to 06:00, 06:00 to 08:00, 17:00 to 19:00, 21:00 to 23:00.

After the special live broadcast, M-Net will show The 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday night starting at 20:30 to 23:30.

E! Entertainment has its regular yearly hour long special of Fashion Police looking at Emmy Awards fashion on Wednesday 25 September at 21:00.

Another hair-raising incident on the E! News set on E! Entertainment (DStv 124) when a livid Giuliana Rancic exploded at her former E! News co-host Ryan Seacrest when he made a joke about her hair and her recent weave.

Terrence Jenkins started laughing and wanted to interject, but Giuliana Rancic dismissed him outright, motioning him to stay out of it with her hand.

"You're hair is on fire right now. Very full. What are you doing? Did you get plugs?" asked Giuliana Rancic of Ryan Seacrest. Then she continued to feel Ryan Seacrest's new hairdo. And gave him a playful little kick.
