Another prime time line-up rejig on CNN International from 10 September as Christiane Amanpour goes an hour and Julia Chatterley's business show, First Move, makes its debut.

CNN is overhauling its programming line-up for CNN International (DStv 401) in South Africa as well as the rest of the African continent and the Middle East, that will kick in from 10 September when Christiane Amanpour's reformatted hour-long show makes its debut.

The latest CNN schedule shuffle however still has no dedicated African news programme during prime time for African viewers in the way that other global news channels like BBC World News (DStv 400 / StarSat 256 / Openview 112 / Cell C black 501) has the daily Focus on Africa at 19:30, or CGTN (DStv 409 / StarSat 266 ) has the daily Africa Live at 19:00, covering Africa during prime time.

CNN that has agreed to a simulcast of Christiane Amanpour's current affairs programme in the United States on the PBS channel, decided to use the programme's expansion to an hour long show in America and the addition of contributors, to rejig and rebuild the programming schedule of CNN International around it.

From 10 September when the half hour Amanpour changes its name to Amanpour & Company in the United States, the hour long show will now start on weekdays at 19:00 on CNN International - an hour earlier.

As TVwithThinus previously reported, Amanpour & Company will add the four journalists Walter Isaacson, Michel Martin, Alicia Menendez and Hari Sreenivasan as contributors, and will feature wide-ranging, in-depth conversations with global thought leaders and cultural influencers on the issues and trends impacting the world each day, from politics, business and technology to arts, science and sports".

This will be followed by Hala Gorani Tonight that from 10 September will move to an earlier timeslot of 20:00 instead of 21:00 on weekdays on CNN International.

Richard Quest's Quest Means Business is also moving an hour earlier from 10 September and will now run at 21:00 instead of 22:00 on weekdays, continuing with its often-irreverent analysis and interviews of the day's global and American business news.

The news channel from Turner Broadcasting that often abruptly interrupted scheduled shows on CNN International with The Lead with Jake Tapper is now giving the show a fixed timeslot on CNN International from 10 September and will be shown at 22:00.

The Lead with Jake Tapper will do commentary and analysis of the day's headlines from the United States, a show that doesn't really so much resonate with African viewers.

CNN Today, co-anchored by Amara Walker and Michael Holmes, is also moving an hour earlier and instead of midnight, will now start at 23:00 on CNN International from 10 September - still covering the day's global headlines from around the world.

State of America, the weekday talk show about Donald Trump's day that was recently dumped from the schedule and replaced by a nightly repeat of CNN Talk with Max Foster, will return as a weekly show on Fridays from 14 September, again anchored by the preppy Kate Bolduan, and now closing out the week at 23:00 on CNN International.

CNN International says CNN World Sport will break into programming with bulletins across the schedule".

The Africa-focused programming strands, Marketplace Africa, African Voices and Inside Africa remain on the schedule and will continue to be part of CNN International's schedule across the week, with news from across the African continent that will continue to feature in CNN International's main shows as and when it happens.

During the day on CNN International, CNN Talk with Max Foster will remain in its usual midday timeslot of 13:00.

In the afternoon on CNN International there will also be two changes. As previously reported, Bloomberg Television's Julia Chatterley is joining CNN International and her new business news show, First Move with Julia Chatterley, will now be seen at 15:00 in the afternoon.

Julia Chatterley will report from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and will cover the latest market moves in the United States and around the world.

Julia Chatterley will also appear in the recently introduced Quest Express with Richard Quest that remains in its 18:00 timeslot, but is apparently changing its programme title to The Express.

"With new shows and expanded programming, these changes will benefit our audiences enormously," says Mike McCarthy, the senior vice president and general manager of CNN International.

"Across business, current affairs, politics, culture and sport, CNN International viewers will get the complete picture, from around the world, in one place."

CNN International adds a new monthly travel show, World of Wonder with Richard Quest; is Business Traveller cancelled?

CNN International (DStv 401) is adding a third new programming strand presented by Richard Quest, with the new monthly travel show, Quest's World of Wonder, set to kick off on the international TV news channel on Saturday 14 July at 13:30.

Quest's World of Wonder is Richard Quest's third programming strand in addition to his weekday Quest Means Business and Quest Express, and monthly Business Traveller shows.

CNN says Business Traveller programming on CNN will continue in the future.

The first half hour episode of Quest's World of Wonder will visit Washington, D.C. in the United States, with other episodes this year that will explore Berlin, Budapest and Panama City.

"We're going to interesting places to meet fascinating people," says Richard Quest. "We're not tourists, we're travelers. It's a show about meeting people who reveal the heart of the city and help you understand what makes the place tick, leading you to that 'wow' moment when you realise you belong."

Each episode looking at what defines the essence of a city, will explore what drives a city and the people who live there. Viewers will meet larger-than-life characters who will explain how the city's past has created a unique fabric that is still evolving today.

"People are fascinated by the spirit of a city - something built up over millennia, centuries or decades that defines what the place stands for and offers its residents and visitors," says Ellana Lee, the senior vice president of CNN International.

"No-one is better at finding and telling those stories than Richard Quest - a true internationalist with vast experience in travelling the world and reporting on it. Through this new show, CNN viewers will experience a world of wonder that will inform and inspire in equal measure."

According to MultiChoice's DStv electronic programming guide provided by CNN, Quest's World of Wonder will be on Saturday on CNN International at 13:30 South African time, with repeats on Saturdays at 21:00, and Sundays at 07:30, 12:00 and 20:30.

Richard Quest comes out as gay on CNN International on his own show Quest means Business: 'Would the fact that I'm gay affect my credibility?'

Richard Quest, the eccentric presenter of Quest means Business on CNN International (DStv 401) came out as gay on his own weekday show on Friday night saying "Would the fact that I'm gay affect my credibility as a business journalist? Would you watch the programme differently?"

Richard Quest said he wish that he had done it on Thursday night - a day before - when he interviewed John Browne, the former CEO of the British oil giant, BP. John Browne resigned in 2007 after a British tabloid revealed that he was gay.

John Browne wrote the book The Glass Closet: Why Coming Out is Good for Business, and Richard Quest interviewed him about it on Thursday.

In his "Profitable Moment" segment which Richard Quest uses to close out every show, he came out as gay on Friday night on CNN International, saying that it is good for his business as a financial journalist.

Instead, he did it on Friday evening a day later, and told viewers globally that it is good for his business as a business journalist.

"If I remember back to when I wasn't open about my sexuality, I spent a great deal of time worried about it. About what my family would think, what would my friends, my colleagues would think, and of course, what would you think".

"Would the fact that I'm gay affect my credibility as a business journalist? Would you watch the program differently?"

"Thinking like this saps energy, it drains confidence, it takes a toll on productivity, it's exhausting.

"I realize that everyone has their own road to travel in making this decision about when it's right to come out. "I know that in my case, the worst fears never materialized. All in all professionally, I know the work I do here every day is better because I'm honest about who I am".

Eleni Giokos on the eNCA welcomes Richard Quest from CNN to the eNCA studio as they talk shop over South African business.

Eleni Giokos on the eNCA (DStv 403) welcomed Richard Quest from Quest Means Business on CNN International (DStv 401) to the eNCA Hyde Park studios this morning where the two bantered and talked biz - as in business news. And it was clear that both were absolutely in their element.

e.tv and the eNCA as usual did absolutely nothing to alert the South African press or TV critics and editors about Richard Quest's appearance this morning. and e.tv and eNCA publicity issued no programming advisories, publicity notes or photos.

Towards the end of Eleni Giokos and Richard Quest's co-hosting on the eNCA where they discussed a wide-range of South African economic and business topics, the South African PR company Arcay Burson-Marsteller repping CNN International, told me that Richard Quest is on the eNCA... "now". (Too late to alert viewers to tune in though.)

I asked Arcay BM why Richard Quest is in South Africa. "CNN international's business correspondent was the master of ceremonies at the South African Property Owners' Association international convention and property exhibition at Sun City," I was told. "He is leaving South Africa tomorrow."

I reached out to e.tv and the eNCA and asked about the Richard Quest appearance. "He was invited as a special guest for a half hour once-off segment with Eleni Giokos to discuss business, economy, tourism of South Africa and Africa," I'm told.

It was great to watch two people who thoroughly know their business fundamentals, economic news, termonilogy and constructs inside out - it was like listening in and eavesdropping on two economists who like each other and are friends talking shop.

Eleni Giokos thanked Richard Quest for doing the program and he reciprocated by saying "its a treat and a pleasure. I'll be seeing you later, on my programme".

Eleni Giokos will be appearing on Quest Means Business on CNN International (DStv 401) on Friday, 17 May at 20:00 tonight.

Programming note: CNN Business Traveller looking at hotel breakfasts, the business lunch, and wine in September on CNN International.

During September CNN Business Traveller with Richard Quest will be sampling the hotel brakfast buffet and investigating how business travellers can eat well - and look at what's to offer for early risers on the road.

There's an evolution taking place in the catering department of the travel industry within the hotel breakfast buffet. On a global scale, hotel giants such as Hilton, Hyatt and Choice Hotels are reinventing the breakfast buffet in the belief that the quality of their breakfast is a huge driver of guest loyalty.

CNN Business Traveller in September will also be looking at whether the business lunch - during tough economic times - are still the way of clinching potential business deals. The celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay will weigh in on how to make a hotel restaurant a "place to be seen".

CNN correspondent Ayesha Durgahee will make use of the "chef on call" service at Malaysia Airlines and also take a peek at the vast wine cellars owned by the aviation industry.

CNN Business Traveller can be seen in September by South African viewers on Thursday 13 September at 10:30; Friday 14 September at 07:30; Saturday 15 September at 09:30 and Sunday 16 September at 06:00 (all South African times).

Programming note: CNN Business Traveller with Richard Quest returns as a monthly show to CNN International.

CNN Business Traveller is back on CNN International (DStv 401) as a monthly show, again presented by Richard Quest, as well as business travel news correspondent, Ayesha Durgahee.

CNN Business Traveller, which had its first ''new'' episode in the middle of March, will be a monthly show with a new episode that can be seen in the middle of each month. The show looks at unlocking value, giving tips and insights and sharing information with business travellers who are doing business on the road and in hotels and how to travel and stay better.

CNN International says CNN Business Traveller returns ''in a harsh, more demanding environment to reflect the size, importance and shifting trends of an industry that touches just about every aspect of the global economy".

Richard Quest will present CNN Business Traveller monthly from hotels, airports and cities around the world, bringing his detailed knowledge of surviving out of a suitcase on the world's corporate highways and byways. "This is a fascinating industry – we look forward to the year ahead on the road", says Matt Percival, the executive editor of CNN International.

In the second episode of CNN Business Traveller on Saturday 14 April at 08:30 (South African time) (repeats on Sunday 15 April 05:00; Saturday 5 May 14:30; Sunday 6 May 08:30; Monday 7 May 05:00) looks at hotels.

The trends of today show a changing role for hotels, as travellers demonstrate a thirst for more advanced technology. As the ubiquity of laptops and gadgets spells demise for the business centre, CNN Business Traveller looks at the rise of the lobby and its 21st century guise as a place of work, play and relaxation, not just a portal for coming and going.

CNN International adds new weekly show, CNN Marketplace Europe, starting Thursday at 20:45 with Richard Quest and Juliet Mann.

CNN International (DStv 401) announced the addition of a brand-new weekly show, CNN Marketplace Europe, which will start on CNN International on Thursday 13 October at 20:45 (South African time) with Richard Quest.

CNN Marketplace Europe that joins the already established CNN Marketplace Middle East and CNN Marketplace Africa will focus on the increasingly complex world of business in Europe. CNN business correspondent Juliet Mann will also do reporting for the show that starts on the 24 hour news channel during a time of unprecedented economic upheaval for the European Union on one of the world's most influential and interconnected continents.

A special section within CNN Marketplace Europe called ''Facetime'' will see CEO's and key players from Europe's most successful companies offering their views on European business and the news of the week.

''Europe remains at the heart of global business, and is rightly admired for its diversity and ingenuity; but it is facing some enormous challenges. We want to get under the skin of these and find out what they mean for Europe's businesses,'' says Richard Quest.

BREAKING. CNN International's brand new prime time line-up

You're reading it here first. CNN International (DStv 401) has a great new primetime schedule for news junkies (like me). TWO BRAND NEW SHOWS are also set to start soon, World One and Amanpour - which I'll tell you about tomorrow.

But back to the schedule and I'll start with the show I personally watch and like the most:

International Desk
Presenter: Hala Gorani
Why it's cool: Hala is funny. She also doesn't really go with a script. The show is pacey, it's TRULY interactive and the hourly show every day immerses you in the news. She makes jokes, she covers really interesting stuff. Hala also has her own blog entitled Today at the IDesk which you can find here: www.cnn.com/idesk
Catch it: Weekdays, 18:00

Quest Means Business
Presenter: Richard Quest
Why it's cool: He visited South Africa earlier this year but MultiChoice and DStv didn't tell me about it, didn't invite me and didn't want me to talk to him. He had some lovely and choice words for SAA though while he visited to do some stories about South Africa's preparations for next year's World Cup Soccer. The tad eccentric Richard breaks down the facts and figures of the business world into easy to understand stories.
Catch it: Weekdays, 20:00

Connect the World with Becky Anderson
Presenter: Becky Anderson
Why it's cool: It's kinda ''connect the dots'' but on a global scale. With the news. Becky takes seemingly unrelated global stories and explores how and event or some news thing has an impact on something seemingly unrelated, yet connected. Very interesting.
Catch it: Weekdays, 22:00
