e.tv acquires the former M-Net soap, The Wild, for an early prime time, free-to-air run on weekdays.
e.tv has acquired the M-Net soap, The Wild, for a free-to-air broadcast run, stripping the M-Net Magic Factory produced series that ended in mid-2013 for a weekday slot at 18:00 from Monday 21 January.
The costly The Wild was mired in ongoing behind-the-scenes production turmoil for its two seasons from its start in April 2011 until its eventual cancellation in March 2013.
Interestingly e.tv is slotting The Wild for the same 18:00 timeslot that M-Net originally had The Wild in before it was moved to 19:00.
The Wild, set at the fictitious 5-star Dinaledi Game Lodge, focuses on three families who are connected through the land. The Tladis, the Lebones and the Van Reenens all have a vested interest in the place and try to work through past conflicts and rifts.
The tensions between the families are further complicated by the lodge's staff and guests.
The Wild's cast features Connie Ferguson and husband Shona Ferguson, Ian Roberts, Clemetine Mosimane, Tumisho Masha, Khabonina Qubeka, Gail Mabalane, Faye Peters and Minnie Dlamini in some of the lead roles.
"We are constantly looking for the best local and international programming for our viewers, and The Wild is no exception," says Marlon Davids, managing director of e.tv channels.
"e.tv is looking forward to bringing this award-winning drama series to free-to-air television for the first time so that even more viewers can enjoy its gripping plot."
