Fox News apologises for shocking false on-air graphic that American supreme court judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died.

America's Fox News (StarSat 261 / Cell C black 502) channel on Monday apologised for a shocking and false on-air graphic that the channel ran, saying that the American supreme court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (83) had died although she is alive.

The Fox News channel ran the graphic with an image of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, together with a "1933 - 2019" below her name

"This was a technical error that emanated from the graphics team," Fox News said in a statement.

Fox & Friends apologised on-air with presenter Steve Doocy saying "We need to apologise. At the beginning of [this] interview, with the process, a technical error in the control room triggered a graphic of Ruth Bader Ginsburg with a date on it. That was a mistake. That was an accident. We believe she is still at home recovering from surgery.

Presenter Ainsley Earhardt said "We apologize. Big mistake".
