Work set to resume on SABC1's Uzalo after production shutdown due to SABC non-payment; payments promised to be made Monday morning.

Work is set to resume on SABC1's Uzalo on Monday according to sources after the production shutdown that saw Stained Glass Pictures shutter the prime time soap, with insiders telling TVwithThinus that payments have been promised to be made Monday morning.

Sources told TVwithThinus that the Uzalo team will return to work today on the KwaMashu set soap - the SABC's most watched show on SABC1 and the most watched programme on South African television after promises that cast and crew will be paid today.

It follows after Stained Glass TV shut down production in August because of the SABC's worsening cash crunch that saw the show going unpaid and facing the possibility of firing staffers.

After workers didn't get paid on 25 August they collectively decided to down tools, with several other productions telling TVwithThinus that they're considering doing the same.

Neither the SABC nor the show released any statement that production on Uzalo is officially resuming on Monday.
