Comic series, Watchmen, gets a series order from HBO, will likely make its debut on HBO and M-Net in 2019.

The comic book series Watchmen got a series order from HBO, with the series that will very likely make its debut on HBO, and M-Net (DStv 101) in 2019.

Watchmen will be produced by Damon Lindelof's White Rabbit, in association with Warner Bros. Television, and promises a new spin in the graphic novel.

The cast includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson and Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen IIAdelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith and Adelynn Spoon.

HBO said "set in an alternate history where 'superheroes' are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own."

Damon Lindelof will be executive producer and writer, with pilot director Nicole Kassell joining as executive producer along with Tom Spezialy, Stephen Williams and Joseph Iberti.
