The SABC will broadcast the former American president, Barack Obama's lecture on Tuesday 17 July as part of the 16th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture in Johannesburg.

Barack Obama's lecture is entitled "Renewing the Mandela Legacy and promoting active citizenship in a changing world".

So far there's been no programming advisory notification to media from enCA (DStv 405) and Afro Worldview (DStv 405) as to whether these South African channels would also be covering Barack Obama's lecture.

The SABC's SABC News (DStv 404) and SABC2 channels will broadcast Barack Obama's lecture live between 14:00 and 16:00 on Tuesday, followed by an on-air analysis of the speech.

Ten of the SABC radio stations will also be carrying the speech live from the Nelson Mandela Foundation and it will also be live streamed online through the SABC News service on YouTube. SABC News will have 2 live streams running simultaneously - one focusing on Barack Obama and the speech, and one giving a 360 degree view of the venue, with both starting at 14:00.
