BREAKING. FOX Movies to be added to On Digital Media's StarSat platform as a new TV channel from Saturday 15 February.

You're reading it here first.

The FOX Movies channel will be added by On Digital Media (ODM) to its StarSat pay-TV platform in South Africa, TV with Thinus has confirmed.

The FOX Movies channel will go live for StarSat subscribers as a standard definition (SD) channel from this coming weekend, Saturday 15 February. SEE THE UPDATE BELOW.

Details are still sketchy, but FOX Movies is from Fox International Channels Africa (FIC Africa) which provides FOX and FOX Crime to StarSat and DStv, as well as channels such as FX and FUEL to StarSat, and the various National Geographic channels to DStv and StarSat.

FOX Movies from 20th Century FOX broadcast comedy, drama, action, science fiction, horror and thrillers and has already been available as a TV channel on the continent in North Africa.

Unrelated to the upcoming FOX Movies addition, the FOX distributed TV channels FOX and FX on StarSat went dark last week following technical problems due to a broke fibre link of the signal distributor after bad weather.

UPDATE: StarSat says that while FOX Movies may be made available by FIC on 15 February, the TV channel still has to be uplined and undergo proper testing by the StarSat technical team to ensure proper broadcast quality.

It means that FOX Movies will not become available on Saturday 15 February. StarSat says an announcement will come from StarSat regarding the date on which the channel will be broadcast, once StarSat is happy with the broadcast quality.
