You're reading it here first.

Verona Duwarkah is the new head of television at the SABC; she's been appointed as the group executive for television.

The SABC says the appointment is part of the promise to parliament that the SABC will "appoint capable individuals in key positions in continuing to stabilise the organisation".

Verona Duwarkah's appointment is effective immediately. She will be overall in charge of the SABC's three television channels, SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3. The broadcaster has not started its proposed digital terrestrial television (DTT) set of TV channels yet.

No word yet on what is happening to Bessie Tugwana who has been the acting head of television and is now being replaced in this position by Veronica Duwarkah. Bessie Tugwana used to be the head of SABC2, before moving up to oversee all three of the TV channels since the beginning of 2011.

Veronah Duwarkah who has been general manager: strategy projects at the SABC and has previously been a financial manager at the SABC, now has the herculean task of steering the SABC's three TV channels, each with their own acting channel heads, with each of the channels facing their own unique challenges.
