M-Net is regressing as far as the annual Emmy Awards - TV's biggest night - is concerned: this year South African viewers and DStv subscribers
REWRITE: Thursday 15:30 - MultiChoice has now come to my aid after I tried for more than a week to get any possibly answer to this, with MultiChoice reaching out to me to tell me that indeed DStv subscribers will be able to see the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards live and in HD on M-Net HD (DStv 170).
MultiChoice tells me that the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards will be screened on M-Net HD (DStv 170) at 03:00 on Monday morning 24 September. That makes it live and in HD.
I've been trying to source an answer about this since 12 September last week, and made not just one enquiry about it. Also the last time I checked the separate M-Net Movies 1, M-Net Movies 2, M-Net Movies 1 HD and the M-Net HD EPG's yesterday for Monday 24 September, nothing regarding the Emmys appeared on the EPG. After bringing South African viewers the Emmy Awards ceremony from Hollywood live and live and in HD the past 3 years, M-Net is not doing that this year. The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards won't be shown live on M-Net Movies 1 (DStv 103), M-Net Movies 2 (DStv 104), or M-Net Movies 1 HD (DStv 175) as it has been in the past.
M-Net didn't respond to a media enquiry about this.
M-Net subscribers will be able to see the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards recorded and edited, and DStv subscribers will be able to see the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards recorded and edited and in HD on Monday night 24 September on M-Net (DStv 101) and M-Net HD (DStv 170) at 20:30.
What is live for South African viewers however are the E! Entertainment (DStv 124) red carpet Emmy coverage starting on Sunday night 23 September at 23:00 with Countdown to the Red Carpet: The 2012 Emmy Awards, followed at 00:00 on Sunday night by E! Live from the Red Carpet: The Emmy Awards 2012.
