The cast members and crew of M-Net's soap The Wild were officially told this morning that the show has been cancelled and that it won't be renewed for a third season.

According to various insiders I've spoken with today, news actually already leaked on Monday when an actor on The Wild found out and told others. M-Net tells me that "the cast and crew were told this morning" after which the South African pay TV broadcaster made the official announcement.

The Wild which films between 6 to 8 weeks in advance, will broadcast its last episodes during March 2013. M-Net plans to create "spin-offs" for M-Net channels which won't be location-based like The Wild but filmed in studio.

M-Net tells TV with Thinus that the farm in the Northwest which M-Net bought and which the pay TV broadcaster sought to rezone as a "backlot type fil studio" will now be sold.
