Sources at the public broadcaster told me Monday that "We Belong" will be SABC2's new slogan when the rebranding kicks in from July this year and that SABC2 is getting a brand-new colour palette moving away from the predominant yellow and blue the past few years.
Insiders tell me that the intros, look and theme music of shows such as Muvhango, 7de Laan, Noot vir Noot and Motswako will not be changing, although local TV stars from these shows are being used to shoot special TV promo. These promo videos, several of them already shot in Midrand, will form part, and be integrated into, SABC2's new look from July - similar to SABC2's "summer" on-air video promo campaign which ran at the beginning of the year.
SABC2 will remain positioned as the "family channel" of the South African public broadcaster but the wider colour palette and new slogan of "We Belong" will aim to enhance the channel's brand as being "inclusive of everyone", a source told me.
On Monday SABC2 confirmed to me that the rebranding is happening around the channel's look from July, but that individual TV shows on the schedule will remain as they are.
