BREAKING. Is M-Net considering a MasterChef South Africa Celebrity Edition? M-Net say there's no decision for more MasterChef yet.

You're reading it here first.

A MasterChef South Africa Celebrity Edition? That is what M-Net could possibly be considering as a further TV brand extension for the current MasterChef South Africa shown on the channel - although the South African pay TV broadcaster tells me M-Net has taken no decision on more MasterChef television.

Insiders in South Africa's TV industry are buzzing about a possible MasterChef South Africa Celebrity Edition rumoured to be in the works. One longtime producer told me earlier in the week that calls have apparently been made to various people - technical crew - asking if they're possibly available for a whole month in Cape Town in August.

Cape Town is where the current first season of MasterChef South Africa was/is filmed. "Everyone seems to be murmuring under the radar," I was told.

A celebrity version of MasterChef South Africa isn't that far-fetched.

At the media launch of MasterChef South Africa in Johannesburg just before the show started (in the very restaurant the winner will get as prize) the press were entertained to a gaggle of celebrities who ended up competing against each other.  Of course the very worthy Ashley Hayden won and went home (deservedly) with a bag full of goodies.

M-Net tells me the pay TV broadcaster has not decided on whether to serve up any more MasterChef. "M-Net has made no decisions with regards to further seasons of MasterChef South Africa. The series is a huge hit among our viewers, but we are still evaluating IF and WHEN it will be viable to commission a second season," says M-Net.
