I can break the news that SABC2's Hectic Nine 9 is set to already add at least one - possibly two - brand-new presenters before the end of this month, and then more presenters later, when the afternoon youth block on the channel immediately becomes an hour long show.
An open casting call went out last month for the show produced from Cape Town but even though only the Cape Town auditions have so far taken place, I can reveal from sources close to the production that a new presenter - possible presenters - will already starting work even before the national audition process is complete.
I'm told that although the regional auditions for Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth are only going to take place this coming weekend, that fresh new faces will be added to Hectic Nine 9 even before producers and the broadcaster have fully completed the process.
''It's crucial that with the extension of the show the existing Hectic Nine 9 presenters get help immediately,'' an insider told me weeks ago. ''It's extremely urgent.''
''New people will start immediately and before the end of February,'' said another, whispering to me that ''more regional presenters will come onboard as the process plays out.''
