BREAKING. MasterChef South Africa taking place and being filmed at the Nederburg wine estate and the famous Johann Graue Auction Hall.

MasterChef South Africa is being filmed at the Nederburg wine estate and the famous Nederburg Winery in Paarl, where the world-famous Johann Graue Auction Hall, the annual venue of the Nederburg Auction has been transformed into the reality show's state-of-the-art kitchen where reality contestants are battling it out to win the top prize.

The 1000 m² venue has over 20 cooking stations equipped with state-of-the-art appliances and utensils. To create the floor and the walls, over 15 tonnes of wood was sourced locally, while 5 km of under floor cabling have been used. The Nederburg estate's gardens also got spruced up and landscaped.

''We wanted to shoot in the Winelands because Cape vineyards are immediately recognisable to local and international viewers as distinctly South African,'' says Anne Davis, M-Net's senior commissioning editor of MasterChef South Africa which will start on 20 March on the pay TV broadcaster.

''The Western Cape is also the culinary capital of South Africa and has great access to fresh produce.''

Visitors are being kept away so as to not disturb the production. M-Net hasn't made any official announcement regarding the venue yet.
